Appearance
In brief passings, one would simply note him as a handsome albeit shifty figure whom most would simply move on by. It would only be when your pockets and purse feel lighter would you go back to inspect- only to see that face entirely disappeard.
Dorian appears an average build under his thick coat, but whenever it is seen drawn off, one could see he has shaped himself to be quite athletic for the chase. A runner's build to be exact. While certainly not a bulky fellow, he has done well to hone his body. A necessity given his lacking aetheric ability. Otherwise, he pairs lightly tanned skin with emerald green eyes- a trademark from a lineage to suggest he may not be fully from the Brume in cold Ishgard.Personality
A charmer. Witty. Easy-going and seemingly never pressed, Dorian is a persona befit of a socialite. A devil-may-care attitude that can appeal to most, he uses these qualities to their advantage to work others over. While it may be read as disingenuous, it is still his true self. Yet still, there lies more. He is a man ruled by his vices and urges, being incredibly self-indulgent and greedy. He'd take what he could and run with more. Beyond that, however, there are some things that stir the man deep in his heart. Certain ideals that lingered from a history forgotten, told in his growing years.

History
Born to a Midlander pair of parents, his father was amongst the first of the contact made with the New World. A trader, he'd travel along Eorzea until he happened upon Coerthas, illegally finding access to Ishgard where he'd meet with Dorian's mother- a barwench in the Brume. Love was found and for a time, he stayed there after she gave birth. Dorian would have few memories of that time, but some to cherish. As such, it wouldn't be something to last- civil unrest creating the perfect scenario where both would be caught in the crossfire. After their passing, he'd find himself on the streets for a time, doing what he could to survive and evading the orphanage system of the Brume. It wasn't until a woman, a friend of the family, named Danielle Liesaire sought him out.
From her, he'd learn everything- she was the leader of the Ishgardian branch of a Rogue's Guild named the Wilted Rose. How to cheat, thief, and escape came naturally to him but what really stuck was the history of the order she shared with him. It was writhe with the secrets of their kingdom, the guild merely a product of the modern day after centuries of complex rise and fall. There laid an answer deep in the heart of the order, that only few would learn about when passed from leader to leader. She saw the potential within him to be something greater, to see the purpose in the group realized once again. However, he did not. It all came to ahead when she tragically died on a job gone wrong, leaving an already dilapidated guild in the hands of a younger Dorian not fit for leadership. Vices ruled the man until he was usurped through his own hubris. Now, he has decided to strike it out on his own, becoming a smuggler and peddler of illegal goods both in and outside Ishgard's walls. He'd see himself back at the top of the Brume, if only to forget the dying promise asked of him by the woman whom gave her everything to him. More and more does that request haunt him.

HooksBrume Rogue
Born in Ishgard to poor parents, whom would later pass, Dorian knows the dirty streets of the Brume like the back of his hand. Well acquainted to the happenings of its politics, history, and figures both topside and of the underworld- and quite involved in them himself. He once sat as the king of the city's rogue guild, but has seen better days since being overthrown. Now, he works entirely for himself as a smuggler and peddler of goods hardly found within the kingdom's walls and outside. Of course, his greed won't ever let him stop himself from taking what's someone else's.
Aetherically Challenged
One could tell, should they be gifted with aethersight, that he has little in terms of magical ability. While not so thin that he is sickly and frail, he simply can only peform the most basic of duties and attunement. Such has allowed him to be quite the improviser, using whatever he has on him or around him to get his leg up should things press hard.
Flirty
He is likely to approach a pretty face, be it with simple interests or more and do his part to charm any that he may want something from. The man is quite self-indulgent, wanting the whole cake than just his slice.
"¿No sabes?"
While he has little tangible connection with it, Dorian is actually half-Turali from his father's side. If someone were to examine his features carefully, they might be able to identify such. However, he seems to not have the biggest drive to engage with his roots given the situation he's subjected himself to. Perhaps if someone came to him with knowledge..?

OOCHey there! This is the OOC, or author's note even, section of the carrd. You can call me Dorian, of course, but you can be more specific and call me Zero or Wave! I'm a pretty chill dude (he/him) and will actively engage in conversation about just anything really. I try to be friendly but of course I do have my limits and there's just general things to know.- Well over 21, so I'd rather keep any and all interactions with other adults. So minors, do shoo away please.- Almost 3 years into FFXIV roleplaying, but have been roleplaying for YEARS amongst many different communities so don't worry too much. I also like to keep things along the para-style length with sometimes going multi-post.-ERP is perfectly fine and I do find it quite fun on even the casual level, but it really isn't anywhere close to my sole interest with this character. If you couldn't tell, I also have an interest in storytelling so at the very least I am flexible with options.-Always open to mature subject matter and themes of many shades, but don't get really egregious about certain topics/get fetish-y about suffering and such.-PST so think about that when hitting me up about things.-Am an artist! Maybe one day I'll throw a commission tab and such, but I'd rather up my art upload rate first. Otherwise, you can follow me on bsky - @vidarealdhelm.bsky.social . Don't be weird tho!

Other than that, I do hope you enjoy my character here. Dorian is a fun little idea that became a LOT more as time went on. He's simultaneously a small little love letter to my favorite crime thrillers, the older early Assassin's Creed games, and scoundrel heroes everywhere. He has both a higher calling but is also too self-centered to become the man he should be. Maybe you might be the one to get him to? Probably not but who knows! I always try to keep a throughline with my characters and direct theming, but still flexible enough for both lighthearted AND serious storytelling. Otherwise, if you're done reading and interested, shoot me a tell!
